About

What is a Community First Responder?

We are a dedicated group of volunteers, diligently trained and dispatched by the South East Coast Ambulance Service. Our primary mission is to act as First Responders to 999 emergency calls in proximity to our homes or places of work. Given the critical nature of emergencies, every second counts. Our ability to reach the scene swiftly, often ahead of traditional ambulance services, can make the pivotal difference between life and death.

Once on the scene, our immediate objective is to stabilize and manage the situation, ensuring the safety and well-being of those involved. This preliminary intervention can be instrumental in improving outcomes, bridging the gap until professional paramedic teams arrive. When they do, we seamlessly integrate with them, becoming an integral component of the broader medical response team. Operating under the guidance and direction of these seasoned paramedics, we work hand in hand to provide the best possible care to those in need.
